Own a huge island - Aeternum in New World. If you want to make your mark on Aeternum, then you might consider joining a faction and entering the PvP world.
Of course, fighting other players is a completely different thing than fighting a staggering sailor corpse. So here are some tips to get you started on your PvP journey in the new world.
PvP battles in New World
During your early journey through Aeternum, you will be invited to join one of three factions. These factions are the starting point for all PvP in New World, so if you're eager to fight other players, you'll need to sign up with one of them as soon as possible.
Whether you're on the side of the Covenant, Singa, or Marauders, sign a faction to unlock a new set of quests to help them gain status and power in Aeternum. Some missions can be completed without the player actively fighting other players, while others require the player to expose themselves to the possibility of being attacked by other factions in the world, so you must choose carefully.
Once you choose your faction, you can enter the open world and start fighting other players. Make sure the player opens PvP by pressing the "U" key in a major settlement, run outside the border, wait for the 30-second cooldown to end, and then you're good to go. With PvP on, you can only engage in unplanned battles with other players from the opposing faction, so don't worry about getting stuck with those who don't want to.
If you also want to avoid a fight, you're in luck. If you're in a safe area, PvP battles will automatically close, giving you some respite, and you can craft gear and sell items at trading posts. You can also turn off PvP for the wider world when in a solution, so no matter what you are, you can be safe in the knowledge and you won't be picked midway through a competitive faction quest.
Wandering around with PvP turned on can be quite dangerous as you don't know where your next challenger will show up - be sure to bring plenty of healing items and keep your best gear on hand if you plan to engage in some faction fighting!
If you do like a duel but don't want to risk losing your gear, you can always start a duel with another player. There are no faction restrictions and you can start a duel anywhere with no consequences for failure - this is your chance to unleash some steam and try your latest weapon against another player.
