Jagex confirmed the Steam launch of OSRS gold both games now. Runescape, colloquially known as Runescape 3 since it's the very modernized version of the sport, will arrive on October 14. Old School Runescape, that uses the 2007 version of this game for a base, will come to Steam sometime in 2021.

Runescape as most people understood it was initially published in 2001 and played via a browser. Jagex later embraced dedicated clients (and Old School Runescape has many third party customers ), but neither version of Runescape has ever been on such a mainstream storefront -- at least, not on PC. Both games have been on cellular stores for a while now. "Jagex is on a mission to bring the RuneScape universe to more players worldwide," states CEO Phil Mansell. "After our matches' arrival on cellular stores, we're currently expanding the availability of the desktop versions. Making them available to the Steam community is a significant step in achieving this goal. We are eager to see RuneScape debut on Steam from October 14th and look forward to Old School RuneScape's arrival next year, as we enable even more gamers to explore and access our rich and engaging living sport worlds."

Runescape and Old School Runescape are equally technically free-to-play games, but most regular players register to membership applications that unlock nearly all content. As such, Jagex provides"subscription bundles" through Steam. You can view the newly minted Steam page to get Runescape here.
